Choice Hotels Donates $25,001 to India Earthquake Relief Fund

Choice Hotels International, Inc. today announced a $25,001 donation to assist victims of the massive earthquake in India. It is an Indian custom that a donation in an uneven amount is good luck.

"We share the world's shock and grief at the suffering caused by this tragic earthquake in the Gujarat region of India," said Charles A. Ledsinger, Jr., president and chief executive officer. "We are matching the $25,001 donated by our friends at the Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA) to the BAPS Earthquake Relief Fund, and urge other companies and individuals to join us in this humanitarian effort."

He added, "AAHOA's leadership on this relief drive helps to focus resources where they are needed most and can have the most effective impact."

The BAPS Earthquake Relief Fund has assistance underway in the stricken area with a camp site for displaced people, meals and medical care. The Fund has been created by BAPS Care International, a non-profit charitable association that provides a variety of medical, educational and social assistance programs.
