PR Newswire
SILVER SPRING, Md.

SILVER SPRING, Md., June 13, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Choice Hotels is proud to announce the newest release of the song "California" by Asia Whiteacre as part of the Choice Hotels Music program. This time, Choice Hotels teamed up with Whiteacre and Children of the Night, a non-profit organization that tackles the grave problem of child prostitution in the United States. Visit the Choice Hotels Music site today to download the free song, "California," by Asia Whiteacre and the Choice Hotels International Foundation will donate $1 to Children of the Night, up to $10,000, between now and July 22nd.

Founded in 1979, Children of the Night is America's most comprehensive social program aiding children forced into prostitution. The organization works closely with various law enforcement agencies to provide safe and secure homes for such children. Children of the Night emphasizes a rehabilitation program aimed at healing and mending the deep emotional wounds associated with child prostitution. Further, the organization provides on-site schooling and even a college preparation program. Overall, Children of the Night seeks to rebuild the lives of these tormented children and establish life skills necessary for leading normal lives.

The Choice Hotels Music program is a win-win-win situation for the artists, consumers, Choice Hotels franchisees and associates and nonprofit organizations. It allows artists the unique opportunity to deliver their music to millions of consumers and retain ownership of their works, drives consumers to ChoiceHotels.com and results in donations to leading nonprofit organizations.

"California" is a cheerful song that epitomizes the laid-back California lifestyle. The song is written by Asia Whiteacre, a 22 year old Canadian music artist who has spent most of her life living in Southern California. Ms. Whiteacre began her career at the young age of 14 singing professionally on film scores and TV commercials--she even had a song featured on the hit television show "Jersey Shore". At the 49th annual Grammy Awards, Ms. Whiteacre sang background vocals for Gnarls Barkley's hit song "Crazy". Additionally, she released her first 6-song EP at the age of just 21.

When asked about her new song, Ms. Whiteacre said, "The opportunity that Choice Hotels Music gave me to record 'California' was more than a dream come true. Growing up can be scary enough without having to deal with the horrors of exploitation. For children and teens growing up in an abusive environment Children of the Night is a godsend. They don't just give kids a safe bed and an education. They give them unconditional love and a chance to have a normal life and normal relationships. And, a chance to be a real kid!"

Consumers can visit ChoiceHotelsMusic.com to download the song and share a link to the song with friends and family through email, Facebook and Twitter, to help Operation Smile put smiles on the face of more children.

Since the Choice Hotels Music program launch in August 2010, Choice Hotels has released seven original songs, generating thousands of downloads via ChoiceHotelsMusic.com and enabling donations to the Nature Conservancy, Rebuilding Together, SOME (So Others Might Eat), the Boys & Girls Club of Metropolitan Washington and Greater Baltimore, the Service Source Foundation and the Steve Harvey Foundation.
