PR Newswire
PHOENIX

PHOENIX, June 29, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Choice Hotels International and its Franchise Services group will make an on-site visit on Wednesday, June 29th, to the Scottsdale Training and Rehabilitation Services (STARS) located in the Cholla Park neighborhood of Phoenix, Ariz. to volunteer their time to make facility repairs and improvements with the help of the company's signature cause partner Rebuilding Together.

Founded in 1973, the Scottsdale Training and Rehabilitation Services center is a non-profit community organization dedicated to providing services for adults with physical and cognitive disabilities in the metro-Phoenix area. STARS provides day programs and modified services to accommodate various cognitive disabilities. STARS employees bring passion to their work and commit to serving as a lifetime support system for those in need.

Choice Hotels employees in the Franchise Services department will perform various tasks in order to improve the interior facilities of STARS. Volunteers will conduct furniture repair & assembly and prepare "Heat Survival" bags for the Phoenix area homeless. In addition, Franchise Services volunteers will even paint a mural inside the STARS building.

As the signature cause partner for Choice Hotels, Rebuilding Together plays a key role in the corporate social responsibility efforts of Choice Hotels as overseen by the Choice Hotels International Foundation. The Foundation's efforts focus on giving direct financial contribution and volunteer activities with organizations that support food, clothing, shelter, and education. The company's Room to Rebuild partnership with Rebuilding Together is part of its ongoing commitment to strengthen the local communities in which their associates and franchisees live, work, and provide hospitality. Rebuilding Together is the nation's largest nonprofit organization working to preserve affordable homeownership and revitalize neighborhoods by providing critical home repair and modification services to those in need at no cost to homeowners. In addition to its core home repair work, Rebuilding Together also rehabilitates community centers and conducts home modification and repair programs that focus on aging in place.

To date, Choice Hotels International has completed various Rebuilding Together projects in order to improve the Phoenix Metro area community. Just last year, the two organizations teamed up to make renovations to the local Hacienda Healthcare Home, which is the leading provider of specialized services for medically fragile and chronically ill infants, children and young adults in Arizona. In addition, multiple projects have taken place across the country with both Choice Hotels employees and franchisees, bringing together thousands of volunteers and hours of service.

Special thanks to some of the company's Qualified Vendors who donated both time and materials to this project: Adjusters International, Coca-Cola, Ecolab, Fabtex, General Mills, Image National, Northwest Carpets, Precor, S&D Coffee, Sysco Guest Supply and True Fitness.
