Choice Hotels & Rebuilding Together Team Up With Washington Redskin NFL Linebacker, London Fletcher to Celebrate National Rebuilding Month
PR Newswire
WASHINGTON

WASHINGTON, April 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Rebuilding Together is celebrating National Rebuilding Month, a nationwide call to rebuild safe and healthy homes for families and homeowners in-need throughout the month of April. In support of the effort, Choice Hotels and Rebuilding Together Washington DC hosted a Room to Rebuild project with Washington Redskin NFL player, London Fletcher.

Today, Rebuilding Together and Choice Hotels provided critical renovations to the Samaritan Ministry of Greater Washington, a community center offering services to local homeless and others in need. Samaritan Ministry annually serves 350 clients, and provides them with housing, employment assistance, and a variety of social and professional services. Washington Redskin player London Fletcher was onsite alongside Choice Hotels' volunteers, as they repaired the community center, in order to make it a safer facility with increased capability to serve people in-need. Fletcher's involvement helped to support Rebuilding Together and Choice Hotels' commitment to rebuilding the community through its Room to Rebuild program.

"With Rebuilding Together we are able to make a huge impact in communities across the country," said Stephen P. Joyce, president and chief executive officer for Choice Hotels. "Since launching our partnership with Rebuilding Together we have completed 50 projects and helped over 10,000 people through the hard work of nearly 5,000 volunteers from Choice Hotels and our franchisees."

National Rebuilding Month brings national attention to the ongoing struggle low-income homeowners face to remain in homes that are safe, healthy, and warm. The homeowners we serve are often forced to delay or do without routine home maintenance in order to afford basic necessities such as food and healthcare, putting their home health and personal safety at risk. Every April, 70,000 volunteers come together to help their neighbors, completing nearly 4,000 projects during National Rebuilding Month.

In 2009, Choice Hotels launched the Room to Rebuild program, in partnership with Rebuilding Together, to ensure that the most vulnerable of our population - the low-income elderly, disabled veterans, and families with children - received the help they need to stay in their homes.
