"It is a privilege to honor Mr. Joyce because he cares so deeply about the work of UJA-Federation, specifically our work around the issue of poverty," said Beth Rosenthal, associate director of Real Estate and Allied Trades at UJA-Federation of New York. "During a moving visit to the Educational Alliance's Project ORE, a beneficiary agency of UJA-Federation, he served lunch to homeless individuals and learned more about their lives."

Mr. Joyce has led Choice Hotels greatly expanded corporate social responsibility initiatives, including the establishment of a multi-year signature cause partnership with Rebuilding Together, the nation's leading nonprofit working to preserve affordable home ownership and revitalize communities throughout the United States. Since joining Rebuilding Together in September 2009, more than 4,500 Choice associates and franchisees have donated 37,000 volunteer hours and helped over 10,000 people along the way.

"UJA-Federation practices the same personalized hands-on approach to community service as we do at Choice Hotels and truly makes a positive impact on people's lives," said Stephen P. Joyce, president and chief executive officer of Choice Hotels International. "I am humbled to be among the recipients of this award."

An active member of the lodging industry and business community, Mr. Joyce serves on a variety of boards and community organizations. Most notably he is vice chairman of the board of trustees of ServiceSource Foundation and a member of the board of directors for the Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts and the Autism Learning Center.

Funds raised go to UJA-Federation's annual campaign to sustain the activities of more than 100 health, human-service, educational, and community-building agencies in New York, in Israel, and around the world.
