1998

Choice Hotels launches its loyalty rewards program, Choice Privileges.

1996

Choice Hotels is spun off from Manor Care and becomes a separate publicly-traded company under the New York Stock Exchange ticker symbol CHH. In the same year, Choice Hotels continues to expand its brand offerings with the launch of MainStay Suites, one of the first mid-scale extended stay brands.

1995

Choice Hotels launches ChoiceHotels.com, the first website in the lodging industry to offer real-time access to a central reservation system.

1990

Quality Inns International changes its name to Choice Hotels International, Inc., a name that more clearly reflected the company’s variety of brand offerings and increasing global presence. In addition to bringing all its brands together under the Choice name, the company adds the Econo Lodge and Rodeway Inn brands to its portfolio.

The Radisson brands, including Park Plaza, Country Inn & Suites, and Park Inn by Radisson, are owned in the Americas regions by Choice Hotels.
Outside of the Americas, the brands are owned by Radisson Hotel Group, an unaffiliated company headquartered in Belgium.
