Four new Hotels of the Year have been crowned amongst Choice Hotels Asia-Pac 2023 Awards

Following the announcement of their 2023 Gold Award Winners, leading hotel franchise group Choice Hotels Asia-Pac has celebrated their standout properties and franchisees at their 2023 Choice Hotels Asia-Pac Awards Dinner.

The ceremony, which was the crescendo of Choice Hotels’ two-day franchisee conference held on the Gold Coast, recognised the highly anticipated Hotels of the Year for 2023 and an inaugural group of Hall of Fame inductees amongst their honours list.

Four properties have taken out the prestigious Hotel of the Year Awards based on excellent customer service and exemplary guest experiences across four of Choice Hotels Asia-Pac’s brands – Ascend Hotel Collection, Quality, Comfort and Econo Lodge.

The Choice Hotels Asia-Pac Hotel of the Year 2023 winners are:

  • Ascend Hotel Collection – Ingot Hotel Perth, Ascend Hotel Collection, Perth WA
  • Quality – Quality Hotel City Centre, Coffs Harbour NSW
  • Comfort – Comfort Inn Deakin Palms, Mildura VIC
  • Econo Lodge – Econo Lodge Alabaster, Cowra NSW

Choice Hotels Asia-Pac Chief Executive Officer, Trent Fraser, said was delighted to be able to recognise the best-of-the-best across the portfolio.

“Our Hotels of the Year are reflective of the incredible year 2023 was for our industry. It’s a proud moment to see these properties continue to deliver exceptional performance and deliver outstanding customer experience,” said Mr Fraser.

“We had the extra joy of being in person to celebrate with these properties and our other honourees at our conference.”

The Hotel of the Year Awards are measured on a ‘likelihood to recommend’ metric calculated on direct and verified customer feedback, combined with franchisee engagement in Choice Hotels Asia-Pac programs and initiatives such as the Choice Privileges loyalty program.

The winning Ascend, Quality and Comfort hotels will join a group of global property nominees competing for the Choice Hotels International Best of Choice Awards, to be announced later this year.

As well as the coveted Hotel of the Year Awards, additional special honourees were announced during the ceremony including:

  • Rising Star Award – Frances Silalahi, The Kingsford, Ascend Hotel Collection Brisbane QLD
  • General Manager of the Year – Jye Segboer, CH Boutique Hotel Tamworth, Ascend Hotel Collection, Tamworth NSW
  • Choice Privileges Hotel of the Year – The Beachcomber Hotel and Resort, Ascend Hotel Collection, Toukley NSW
  • Best New Hotel – Quality Inn Acapulco, Taupō New Zealand

Adding to the celebrations this year was the introduction of the Choice Hotels Asia-Pac Hall of Fame, acknowledging properties with outstanding contributions within the group.

“These inaugural inductees have been integral to what makes Choice Hotels Asia-Pac the business it is today. And we’re incredibly lucky to have these properties as part of our portfolio,” said Mr Fraser.

The Choice Hotels Asia-Pac 2023 Hall of Fame Inductees:

  • Mrs. Coral Duncombe and the team at Quality Hotel Robertson Gardens celebrating 23 years
  • Kerry Ebert and the team at Comfort Inn & Apartments Northgate Airport celebrating 28 years
  • Matthew Yuryevich, Kris Day and the team at the Quality Inn Railway, Kalgoorlie, WA celebrating 24 years
