Econo Lodge- and Rodeway Inn-Sponsored Rebuilding Dreams Project Winning Results Announced
National Rebuilding Project to Help Homeowners in Need to Take Place in Detroit Thanks to Consumer Voting Results
SILVER SPRING, Md. and DETROIT, Sept. 27, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- With the success of last year's project, Econo Lodge and Rodeway Inn franchisees have teamed up again with Rebuilding Together, the signature cause of Choice Hotels International, Inc. (NYSE: CHH), franchisor of the Econo Lodge and Rodeway Inn brands, to help a homeowner in need through the Rebuilding Dreams project. Through several weeks of online voting, consumers were able to select one of four deserving finalists, to have their house repaired and renovated. After thousands of votes, the winner of the 2011 Rebuilding Dreams project is Ms. Delois of Detroit, Michigan.
This is Ms. Delois' heartfelt story:
-- Delois is 52 years old. She has lived in her home for more than 37
years. At the moment, she is the only one in the household; however, she
is trying to gain custody of her grandchildren. Her grandchildren are
going through a rough time currently and need a safe environment to grow
up in. Children's Services is working with Delois in regards to gaining
custody. She believes that she can provide an emotionally safe
environment for her grandchildren, but not physically safe due to
damages in her home. In order for these children to move into their
grandmother's home and have a safe environment in which to grow and
develop, repairs are needed on the home. Delois needs several major
repairs done after a terrible house fire. These repairs will help not
only this one individual, but will help the lives of children with an
uncertain future. She will be able to remain in her neighborhood and
raise her grandchildren in a place that is not only emotionally safe,
but physically safe as well.
As the winning homeowner, Ms. Delois will have her house renovated on October 21, 2011, kicking off national "Make a Difference Day" by Rebuilding Together volunteers as well as Econo Lodge and Rodeway Inn brand hotel owners and staff.
After the voting period for the Rebuilding Dreams project recently concluded, Choice Hotels also offered consumers who voted the chance to win a sweepstakes package to participate in the project efforts. One lucky voting winner will receive airfare for two to Detroit where the project will be held, participation on the project, hotel accommodations for two nights, and spending money.
