(NYSE: CHH), one of the world's largest hotel companies, announced today that its chief financial officer, David White, has received the 2013 CFO of the Year Award. The award, sponsored by the Washington Business Journal recognizes the top CFOs for excellence in their field.

In his role as senior vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer for Choice Hotels International, White provides oversight and leadership of the company's financial strategy and finance organization, which includes treasury, financial accounting and analysis, the company's real estate investment committee and tax. He is also an officer of the company.
Last year White was instrumental in leading the company's leveraged recapitalization and special dividend that returned approximately $600 million to shareholders. For the Choice Hotels new global headquarters, in Rockville, Md., White provided leadership and oversight for securing the lease and subsequent build out of the new office building.
White joined Choice Hotels in 2002 as the company's vice president of financial reporting. In that position he provided strong leadership in handling the company's SEC reporting, as well as in the budgeting and analysis function of the business. Before joining Choice Hotels, he worked at Arthur Andersen LLP.
He also currently serves on the board of directors of the Choice Hotels International, Inc. Foundation. The Foundation's mission is to give back to the communities in which Choice operates by supporting programs that provide food and shelter to those in need, enhance and enrich educational efforts and promote the growth and development of tourism. White previously served as a member of the Financial Management Committee for the American Hotel & Lodging Association. He earned his Bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Virginia's McIntire School of Commerce.
