"The Bolling Wilson Hotel seamlessly merges historic charm with modern amenities and offers guests a truly special travel experience," said Michael Murphy, senior vice president of upscale brands for Choice Hotels International. "Each member hotel within the Ascend Hotel Collection provides a distinct and memorable experience that brings the local culture to life. The Bolling Wilson Hotel is no exception. This hotel does a superb job of delivering an exceptional guest experience."
The Bolling Wilson Hotel is managed by Cornerstone Hospitality, a prominent Virginia-based management company that strives to continuously go above and beyond brand standards when it comes to guest service and property management.
"We are thrilled and honored that The Bolling Wilson is now part of the membership program of the Ascend Hotel Collection, a network of independent hotels associated with Choice Hotels. Joining the Ascend Hotel Collection allows our guests to earn points for staying with us through the Choice Privileges guest loyalty program, while allowing us to maintain our own unique identity," said President and CEO of Cornerstone Hospitality, Kimberly L. Christner. "This building has been an integral part of the community since the 1920s and as we focus on bringing the hotel back to its original grandeur in a modern way, the Ascend Hotel Collection will help us to reach more travelers and establish the Bolling Wilson as a premier destination."
The property, which is located at 170 E. Main Street, dates back to 1927. In 2010 it was purchased by Bill and Farron Smith of Smith Enterprises and redesigned in homage to Wytheville's most prominent citizen, Edith Bolling Wilson, wife to President Woodrow Wilson. Edith Bolling Wilson's childhood home was across the street from where the hotel stands today.
The 30-room, 4 floor hotel features different decor themes on each level based on Mrs. Wilson's interests and passions. Guest rooms are designed and decorated around her love of orchids, canaries and fine bourbons.
Guests can choose from eight spacious room types - Junior Suite, Double Accessible, Queen Standard, Queen Deluxe, King Deluxe, King Parlor, King Accessible and King Standard. These rooms all offer 42-inch flat screen televisions, Gilchrist & Soames bath products, Keurig coffee makers, refrigerators, plush bedding, chenille sofas and chairs, plush towels, wood floors, walk-in showers, jetted bubble tubs and more.
The hotel's restaurant, Graze on Main, offers a casual but elegant dining. Guests can enjoy a twist on Southern cuisine set in an eclectic design featuring wood floors, luxurious fabrics, unique art and lighting. Graze on Main invites hotel guests to enjoy a specialty cocktail or micro-brew at the bar, dine in the Atrium or spend time with friends on the outdoor patio. The Vault, a small dining room, is also available for smaller parties that are looking for a place to host a private event.
The rooftop terrace, called The Perch, is the perfect place to enjoy drink or appetizer while taking in views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Guests can unwind in the comfortable lounge chairs while taking in the sights. Umbrellas are available in warmer months while fire-pits, heaters and throw blankets help to keep visitors cozy during cooler months.
The Bolling Wilson is also the ideal place to hold a wedding or corporate event in Wytheville. The elegant George Wythe Ballroom features high coffered ceilings, historic terrazzo tile floors, large windows and French doors. The ballroom is able to accommodate small groups as well as large events up to 100 people. The Atrium, The Vault, The Perch or the lobby are also available for private events. All event space is serviced by Graze on Main.
While visiting Wytheville, guests of the Bolling Wilson Hotel have easy access to historic downtown featuring high end shopping, innovative restaurants and a number of historical museums including: the Edith Bolling Wilson Museum, the Thomas J. Boyd Museum, the Haller-Gibboney Museum, and the Heritage Preservation Society. Guests may also enjoy a trip to the Beagle Ridge Herb Farm, the Wytheville Raceway and the Pleasant Hill Flower Farm.
